The St. Louis Stars were a professional baseball team that played in the Negro National League from 1922 to 1931. The team was based in St. Louis, Missouri and played their home games at Stars Park.
The Stars were one of the most successful teams in the NNL, winning the league championship three times (1928, 1930, 1931) and finishing as runners-up four times. They had a strong rivalry with the Kansas City Monarchs, another powerhouse team in the league.
The Stars featured many talented players, including James "Cool Papa" Bell, Willie Wells, George Scales, and Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe. Bell, considered one of the fastest baseball players of all time, was a standout outfielder and base runner. Wells was a talented shortstop and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Scales was an excellent hitter and outfielder, and Radcliffe was a versatile player who could pitch and play catcher.
After the Negro National League folded in 1931, the Stars continued to play in other black baseball leagues, including the Negro Southern League and the Negro American League. The team disbanded in the mid-1930s, but their legacy lives on through the talented players who wore the St. Louis Stars uniform.
